My DNA Testing Guide

If any of the following apply to you, this DNA Testing Guide is an essential resource.

  • Are you a genealogist with brick walls in your family tree? An adoptee searching for your first family?
  • Do you want to know if two people are related and how? Would you like a breakout of your ethnic ancestry?
  • Even if you're just curious about the new world of genetic genealogy, you need my Guide to DNA Testing.

A Plain-English Overview for Adoptees, Genealogists, and Everyone Else

I tell you what DNA testing can do for you. Then I describe and compare the major genetic genealogy tests. Finally, I summarize their purposes, strengths and limitations. After reading this overview, you will be able to make test decisions with confidence.

Get the Kindle Version My DNA Testing Guide on Amazon

Go to this page on Amazon and buy the Guide to DNA Testing for just $2.99. If you have access to the Kindle Lending Library or subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, the Guide is free.

You don't need a Kindle to read Kindle books, since Amazon provides a reader for every platform including PC & Macs plus tablets and smart phones.  Download a free Kindle app for your device here.

NOTE: if you already purchased an earlier Kindle version, Amazon will not let you buy the new version. Click here for a workaround.

Why No Print Version?

I only offer the Guide as an eBook for two reasons. First, the field of DNA testing changes so rapidly that I need to periodically update the information. That is not practical for a printed book.

Secondly, much of the practical value of this such a book lies in the dozens of links to recommended DNA tests, books, and third party resources. In my eBook you simply click to go there. In a printed book you would have to type a long URL for every place you wanted to check.
